7/19/2010

To: All Electric Generation Suppliers (EGS)/EDI Providers
Subject: EDI Fixes

Please be aware that PPL Electric Utilities has resolved a few production EDI issues and will be moving several changes to production today.  The changes include:

  • When a supplier sends an 810 Bill Ready Invoice to PPL with a zero balance, PPL had been sending an 824 Application Advice, indicating that the supplier's charges were not billed.  The charges were actually included on the bill, but the flag that was used to determine whether the 824 should be sent was based on whether the dollar amount was greater than zero.  PPL will no longer send the 824 in error.
  • When a supplier misses the bill window and does not send an 810 transaction, an 824 is generated indicating that supplier charges were not included on the bill.  The 824 previously used code "A13".  PPL will begin using the appropriate code "NCC" (No Current Charges) on the 824.
  • The 814 Responses to an 814 Summary/Detail Interval Secondary Service Request, and also the 814 changes associated to Summary/Detail being used to communicate whether the supplier wants to receive interval or summary monthly usage, has been corrected.  Previously, PPL was sending 814 Accept Responses with status reason code of "SNP" - Service Not Provided and "C10" - Change Not Supported, respectively.  PPL will begin sending proper 814 Responses to an 814 Summary/Detail Interval Secondary Service Request and also 814 Changes associated to Summary/Detail Interval Usage.
  • The 814 Enrollment Responses returned an incorrect value for the number of months in some cases where "short months" were not included in the calculation.   PPL has revised the method for calculating the number of months and the kWh and Peak Demand provided on the 814 Enrollment Response, and is now using the kWh and Peak Demand values for the past 12 bill cycles and calculating the number of months as the number of bill cycles.

5/10/2010 To: All Electric Generation Suppliers
Subject: 867 Interval Data One-Day Delay Fix

To All Electric Generation Suppliers:

A few months ago, we had identified an issue with our 867 Interval Usage files missing some data due to a lag in obtaining data.

Starting Monday evening, May 3, 2010 the 867 Interval Usage files will now contain all of the appropriate days. We will give you a few weeks to review our resolution, if everything is satisfactory, we will stop sending the manual csv files which was our interim solution.

Please note that in order to accommodate the production fix you will receive an abnormally low number of 867s today, May 4, 2010. Beginning tomorrow, May 5, 2010, everything will resume as normal.

Here is an example of the lag in data:
If the service period for a customer listed on the 867 is Jan 15 to Feb 14. The interval data that will be supplied will be from Jan 15 through Feb 13. The last day of the service period does not contain interval data and is not included in calculating the bill. As such, the two day lag that PPL Electric discussed in previous calls only affects the date of Feb 13 in this example.
The next service period that will be received on the next 867 will begin with Feb 14th.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at PPLUtilitiesSupplier@pplweb.com.

4/21/2010 To: All Electric Generation Suppliers
Subject: EDI Transactions - 867's

This is an informational memo regarding PPL Electric's operating changes for this week regarding issuing 867s.

PPL Electric is performing tests on our 867 process this week to try to eliminate problems with sending the 867 that we discovered late last week. The files will be delayed between 3-5 hours later than normal in order to allow our team to review the files after they have gone through our process to make sure they are correct. We estimate that the files will be issued between 10AM and 10:30AM

PPL Electric plans to revert back to its normal operating schedule for 867s Monday April 26, 2010.

During the weekend of May 1st we will be updating our code that is sent on the 867IU. This new code will correct the one-day delay on the 867's effective May 3rd.

If you have any questions, please contact Supplier Coordination.

4/20/2010 To: All Electric Generation Suppliers
Subject: Load Profile Info Issue

Please be advised that in January, EDI was sending out older load profile information. PPL EU has since corrected the issue, but there is still one issue that is currently pending resolution. EDI is currently send out a shortened load profile name. For example, DSR-R-EXR was going out as DSR-R, so Electric Generation Suppliers might not have been sure if the profile was DSR-R-EXR or DSR-R-GRS. We have identified the issue and will notify you once resolved.

All Electric Generation Suppliers
Subject: Interval Data Process - Billing

Please be advised that as of last week, we have moved to the process of sending interval data automatically to each Electric Generation Supplier (EGS). The process was reviewed in the supplier conference call held on Friday, February 19th. Please refer to the link below for more information on the conference call:

Each EGS will only receive the data going forward for each of their accounts that they have requested via EDI to obtain detail data for billing. We are no longer accepting manual requests for monthly interval usage.

If you are not automatically receiving interval data for a specific account, please submit an 814 change transaction for detail (interval) data.
