PPL Electric Utilities is seeking proposals from Renewable Energy Credit Aggregators to provide solar renewable energy credits (SRECs) for a portion of the supply the company will need for the 2011/2012 AEPS delivery period, in order to fulfill its obligation as a default service provider.
As a default service provider, PPL Electric Utilities must purchase and provide generation supply for customers who don't choose alternative suppliers. The company serves 1.4 million customers in 29 counties of central and eastern Pennsylvania.
The company is seeking to procure 1,100 SRECs over 8 years, with supply beginning June 1, 2012 for residential customers. This program is solely for Aggregators, as defined by the PA PUC. This proposal is based upon the successful completion of the PPL Electric's Long-term SREC RFP.
