PPL Electric Utilities is seeking proposals from competitive suppliers to provide a portion of the supply the company will need beginning December 2011, in order to fulfill its obligation as a default service provider.
As a default service provider, PPL Electric Utilities must purchase and provide generation supply for customers who don’t choose alternative suppliers. The company serves 1.4 million customers in 29 counties of central and eastern Pennsylvania.
The company is seeking contracts for 12-month supply of alternative energy credits it will need starting December 1, 2011 for residential customers. This procurement will occur along with the Default Service Procurement, for supply of block and load following products.
NERA Economic Consulting has been hired as an independent third-party to manage the RFP process.
