Demand Side Initiative Rider gives industrial and commercial customers flexibility in energy consumption decisions.
Demand Side Initiative Rider enables customers to respond to hourly price signals by increasing, decreasing, or shifting usage. With this option, customers who qualify for the rate can minimize energy costs by using more energy during hours when market prices are lower, and by curtailing use during higher-cost hours. PPL Electric Utilities electronically transmits day-ahead market prices by 5 P.M. to Demand Side Initiative Rider customers. Market prices reflect PJM's costs to provide electricity, depending on customer demand, availability of generating units, weather and other factors.
