Incremental Energy Use
Actual energy use that differs from the reference is charged or credited at the actual market price in effect for the hour during which it occurs.
For example, a customer who uses 1,000 kilowatt-hours below the CRL during a higher-cost hour receives a credit at market price per kwh in effect for that hour. The customer then can purchase 1,000 kwh of energy above the CRL during a lower-cost period at the lower market price, for a net savings on the bill. This pricing structure encourages efficient use of customer resources while minimizing energy costs.
