Guideline on Electrical Power for ADP Installations

This recommended guideline for Federal agencies identifies and describes the electrical environment for safe, reliable operation of automatic data processing (ADP) systems. The area in and immediately outside the computer room is considered. The guideline describes the fundamentals of the power, grounding, and life-safety requirements for preparing ADP sites. It also provides a guide and checklist for specifying ADP sites and evaluating their suitability.

The publication points out methods for solving the usual electric power problems found in installing and operating large and medium-scale ADP systems. The guideline also provides ADP managers with cost-effective methods to ensure that ADP operations have a clean and uninterrupted power source.
