Constructing a Barrier - Computers

More and more people are using their home as an office. Home computers allow us to work on correspondence, reports and presentations at home as easily as we would at the company office. However, unless the system is properly protected, all of your data and hardware can be gone in the blink of an eye.

Computers must have two types of protection, surge protection and battery back-up. Surge protectors prevent the hardware from being damaged while battery back-ups protect you from data loss during momentary power outages.

Also remember, the central processing unit of the computer is likely to be connected to peripherals, a printer, modem, CD-ROM and a monitor. If any of these units is left unprotected, the data cables can distribute surges to the whole system.
