Constructing a Barrier - Electronics

Your television, VCR, CD player and stereo system represent a considerable investment. These devices are incredibly sophisticated and sensitive. They can be easily damaged by surges. Each of these units should be plugged into a surge protector that is UL-listed 1449, and provides protection as specified in IEEE standard C62.41-1991 . Use a protector that has multiple outlets allowing one device to protect your entire entertainment center.

If you have an outside antenna, satellite dish or cable service - all leads coming from these should be surge protected as well. Everything should be protected. A properly selected surge protection device will do this by routing all external cables through it before they go to the protected equipment. This includes coax cables and telephone lines as well as power lines.
