Constructing a Barrier

To properly protect your sensitive electronic equipment you must construct a barrier around it much like you would put a fence around your home. Since you usually can't prevent the things that can damage your home electronics, you must keep these conditions from getting to your equipment. 

Every piece of electrical equipment in your home needs a barrier. To what extent you protect the equipment will depend on the type of problems it might be susceptible to and how valuable it is to you. Obviously, a black and white TV set you keep in the back bedroom does not warrant the same level of protection as your pride and joy large screen TV in the family room. But how you protect each of them is exactly the same.
