Things to Know About Electric Choice
Things to know about Electric Choice
Pennsylvania’s Electric Choice program lets you choose the company that generates your electricity. Whether or not you choose an electric generation supplier, PPL Electric Utilities will continue to deliver electricity safely and reliably.
PPL Electric Utilities offers regulated services under rate schedules approved by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. Regulated services, including Provider of Last Resort (PLR) service, have a minimum one-year term. That means if you take PLR service after being served by another supplier, you may not shop again for a period of one year.
To avoid the one-year term provision of PLR service, you may elect the Generation Rate Adjustment, which gives you the option of paying market-based rates or tariff rates, whichever is greater, for PLR service for a period of less than one year.
Economic and industrial development incentive credits (EDI/IDI) apply only to regulated services you purchase from PPL Electric Utilities. They do not apply to generation and transmission services you buy from another supplier.
An ICS consultant can help you calculate your Price to Compare, answer questions about PLR service and determine how EDI/IDI credits affect prices offered by other suppliers. For help, call 888-220-9991 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or send an e-mail message to ics@pplweb.com.
