Service for New Construction
Arranging electric service for new construction? Contact us early in your project to make sure service is available when and where you need it.
The steps, process and requirements may vary somewhat depending upon the type of service you need.
Single-Phase Service
To begin the process, call 1-800-DIAL-PPL (1-800-342-5775) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Contractors can use our rapid service request tool on the Web to apply for service.
It typically takes four to six weeks to connect electricity after you submit your request, as long as you meet the requirements for single-phase electric service, which may vary depending upon the project.
When you call to request service, you’ll be asked to provide:
- The complete address of the site(s).
- The stage of construction.
- The number of the nearest pole or pad-mounted transformer (marked on metal plate).
We’ll also ask questions regarding the size and type of the construction, the kinds of appliances it will have and the preferred meter location.
If you are requesting service in someone else’s name, we will need to send that person a form to verify that he or she will accept billing.
