Report a Problem
When your business is without power, we want to know. The best way to report outages is through our automated phone system. Call 1-800-342-5775 (1-800 DIAL PPL). We’ve made changes to the system recently based on customer suggestions to make the process easier and more interactive.
The phone system is voice responsive, so to report an outage, just answer yes to the first question. When the system asks you to describe the problem, say, “I’m out of power.”
The system detects the phone number you are calling from to report the outage and will ask you to verify if that is the location without power. If you answer yes, the system will read back the address to verify your location. If you answer no, the system gives you the option of reporting outages using the account number, a different phone number or the electric meter number.
After you report the outage, you will hear current information available about the status of restoring service. In the first minutes following outages we are gathering information about the cause and extent of damage, so you may receive an estimated restoration time based on computer-generated averages. As we receive more detailed reports from workers at the scene, we revise restoration estimates. That’s why you may get a different estimate the second time you call.
When you call us back to check on the status of the outage, answer yes to the first question, and when the system asks you to describe the problem, say, "What’s the status?" The system will ask if you want to use an account number or telephone number to get the status of the outage.
Our interactive phone system has the most up-to-date outage information – the same information our service representatives use when responding to questions. So the quickest way to get outage information is through the interactive phone system.
We continually look for ways to improve outage reporting and outage information. We welcome your comments. Write to us at: icswebsite@pplweb.com.
