2010 Power Purchase for Large Commercial and Industrial Customers

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has approved the results of PPL Electric Utilities’ solicitation for 2010 fixed-price electricity supply for large commercial and industrial customers.

If you expressed an interest in a fixed-price option earlier this year, you have until November 9, 2009, to complete our online form and accept the fixed price. Large industrial and commercial customers who chose not to express an interest earlier in a fixed-price option for 2010 are not eligible.

The fixed-price for generation in 2010 for customers on rate schedule LP-4 will be approximately 9.21 cents per kilowatt-hour. It will be approximately 8.95 cents per kilowatt-hour for customers on rate schedules LP-5 and LP-6.

This will be a flat generation price for all kilowatt-hours used. This price includes all products necessary to provide generation service. If you do not accept the fixed price, your options are to shop for an alternative electricity supplier or accept hourly market pricing for electricity supply purchased for you by PPL Electric Utilities from the spot market.

Please note that you may be able to find better prices on generation supply from competitive suppliers. The key to shopping is knowing your price to compare, which includes generation and transmission charges. If your supplier’s price is lower than your Price to Compare, you can save money by choosing that supplier.

The estimated 2010 Price to Compare for LP-4 customers is about 9.59 cents per kilowatt-hour. The estimated 2010 Price to Compare for LP-5 and LP-6 customers is about 9.31 cents per kilowatt-hour.
