Want to know where your home is wasting energy? Now you have two energy assessment options provided at reduced prices that can help you identify and implement effective ways to reduce your home energy use, improve efficiency and save money. You decide which option is best for you.
In both cases, trained energy professionals will install several free energy-saving measures if needed, and will provide you with recommendations to make your home more energy efficient. You also will receive information about rebates available through PPL Electric Utilities' other E-power programs.
If improvement recommendations include duct sealing, you may be eligible for up to $100 in additional rebates for measures installed. You could also qualify for up to $100 of bonus rebates by making certain home weatherization improvements. So get started now.
Home Energy Survey ($50)

 | An energy surveyor will conduct a walk-through evaluation of your home and install, if needed, free energy-saving items such as CFLs, smart power strips, faucet aerators and water heater pipe insulation valued up to the cost of the survey. The surveyor also will give you advice on ways to improve your home's energy efficiency. By implementing the recommendations, you also could qualify for additional E-power rebates. This option is valued at more than $100 but you only pay $50.
Home Energy Audit ($350-$650)
This is a comprehensive diagnostic audit performed by a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified Building Analyst. This option includes an examination of how much air is leaking into and out of your home, the testing of certain heating and cooling systems and an assessment of the air quality in your home including carbon monoxide and moisture conditions. The analyst also will install, if needed, the free energy-saving items offered in the walk-through survey listed above and will give you recommendations about other energy-saving measures you can take.
You hire a qualified analyst and pay the full cost of the audit. But, we'll reimburse you $250 if you have an all-electric home, or $150 if your home has central air conditioning or main source electric heating. And, by implementing the energy efficiency measures recommended, you also could qualify for additional E-power rebates, as well as the weatherization and duct sealing rebates and bonus rebates mentioned above.
