Grant support
The U.S. Department of Energy is providing $19 million in matching funds to deploy smart grid technology in the Harrisburg area.
This funding was announced in 2009 as part of a round of grants in which the DOE awarded more than $3.4 billion to support efforts to update the nation’s power grid. Only one in four companies competing for grants was successful.
As a grant recipient, PPL Electric Utilities is required by the DOE to inform project beneficiaries of their rights under applicable civil rights statutes. Federal civil rights laws prohibit recipients of DOE financial assistance from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age, or from retaliating against any person that files a complaint.
