Electrical Safety Takes Center Stage with The National Theatre for Children
Electrical hazards cause thousands of injuries each year in the U.S., including to children.
At PPL Electric Utilities, safety is a top priority both for our employees and the communities we serve. As part of our public safety outreach, we’ve teamed up with The National Theatre for Children to deliver memorable performances with important messages.
“The Safety Detectives in Hot Pursuit,” is an interactive, high-energy show aimed at elementary school children that leaves kids with important electrical safety information. Before a show comes to a participating school, the school receives electrical safety workbooks, teacher guides and posters.
Since our service area is large (10,000 square miles), we carefully select areas in which to canvass schools to see if they’re interested in hosting the show, which is free and sponsored by PPL. We need to keep performances relatively close geographically, so the actors can travel between morning and afternoon shows and have time to set up, etc.
We’re making sure we offer the shows to schools in both urban and rural areas across our service territory. Shows are planned for four weeks in 2016 - two weeks in the spring (late April and early May) and two weeks in October.
If you’re school is interested in being asked about a show in the future, send us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org. We can make sure our friends at the National Theatre for Children put you on a list for a future contact.
