Information on pole attachments

PPL Electric Utilities constantly evaluates new methods for communications attachments. This page outlines a few of the new attachments we are working on and information for attaching companies.

Wireless Devices

All requests can be submitted through our online application management system. The completed application must a include spec sheet for all attachments to be installed. These specs must include the dimensions of the unit and how it will be attached to PPL facilities.

Wireless Antenna Attachments

With wireless technology rapidly improving, wireless antennas may be installed only on wood distribution poles. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

All new attachers must sign a Wireless Antenna Attachment License Agreement prior to applying. This process can be initiated by emailing us through the contact us page. Once an agreement is signed, applications can be submitted through our online application management system. The completed application must include spec sheet and an acceptable RF exposure report for all attachments to be installed. These specs must include the dimensions of the unit and how it will be attached to PPL facilities.

Wireless Antenna Installations

Pole top wireless antenna installations are best accomplished when PPL's make-ready and meter/service work are coordinated with the installation of the wireless provider’s electric service entrance equipment and antenna. Because this work is done in the power space above our secondary voltage facilities, we require that the wireless provider select an approved PPL contractor to perform the installation work for both their electric service entrance equipment and the antenna.
