PPL Electric Utilities installs street lights as well as area lights at the request of our customers. Many departments work together to manage our street lights from the request for installation, to the ongoing maintenance and replacement of lights, to the potential purchase or removal of the facilities. 

Request New Customer Owned Street Light

If you are a municipal representative and you’d like to request new street lights, move, remove, replace or repair existing street lights, please call 1-888-220-9991, Option 4. 

If you are a residential customer and your municipality will not have a light installed for you, you can have PPL Electric Utilities install area lights and add those to your electric bill. Customer-owned streetlights must follow the Requirements for Service to Customer-Owned Street Lighting Systems (Spec 6-10-165). 

Purchase of Existing Street Lights from PPL Electric Utilities

We provide municipalities the option of owning their own street lights. The process to purchase lights is handled by our business account specialists. Street Light Purchase Process

Customer-owned street lights should all have a small silver placard located at eye level on their pole containing the street light owner and a number to call if there is an issue with the light. For PPL Electric Utilities-owned lights that number is our customer contact center at 1-800-DIAL-PPL (1-800-342-5775). Please call us to report a broken light or any electrical outage.
