Dec 2020 Residential Connect

Delivering for our communities through thick and thin

This has been a tough year. It posed many new challenges. We all had to do things differently to achieve our goals. While we worked safely day and night to keep your lights on, we also kept our commitment to delivering for the communities we serve.

Stepping up for customers

Many families have been — and continue to be — financially impacted by the pandemic. For those of you who have needed a little extra help managing your bills this year, we’ve worked to provide some relief:

  • Suspended late payment charges and service terminations for the bulk of the year.
  • Adjusted the eligibility criteria for our payment assistance programs so more customers would qualify.
  • Expanded our payment agreement options to help you pay down balances on your schedule.
  • The PPL Foundation contributed $500,000 to our Operation HELP program, which provides grants to eligible families struggling with their energy bills.

Investing in our communities.

  • The PPL Foundation provided more than $500,000 to 116 community organizations across our 29-county service territory through our sustaining grants program.
  • Beyond supporting education and sustainable communities, the PPL Foundation added a key focus area this year: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This focus area will help us partner and invest in nonprofit organizations aimed at confronting racism, advancing social justice and equity, improving multi-cultural relations, and supporting minority-led organizations.
  • Through its Bright Lights program, the PPL Foundation awarded $100,000 in grants to help illuminate the outstanding contributions of individuals working in the nonprofit sector.
  • We contributed a total of $750,000, across more than 100 non-profit organizations, through PA's Education Improvement Tax Credit program.

Preserving the Environment

  • Although schools across Pennsylvania went virtual earlier this year, we spread the word about our Future Environmental Leaders Scholarships and awarded $2,000 scholarships to six deserving high school seniors.
  •  We adapted our popular Community Roots program for the times and gave away more than 1,000 trees at outdoor farmers markets across eastern PA.

We’re proud to be here for the communities we’ve served for a century.

Here’s wishing everyone a happy and healthy holiday season. Stay safe!
