  • It’s secure: You won’t have to worry about getting a paper check stolen or lost in the mail.

  • It’s good for the planet: No paper means a greener future.

Don’t wait until your next bill is due. Check out pplelectric.com today to get started.

I heard that PPL is giving away pollinator-friendly plants and seeds this year. How do I participate?

You’re right! As part of our commitment to protecting the environment, we’re giving birds, bees and butterflies natural food sources by distributing pollinator-friendly plants and seeds to customers. It’s the next phase of our Community Roots program, through which we distributed more than 100,000 free trees since 2017. We’ll be distributing the plants and seeds at minor league baseball stadiums throughout the summer. For information, follow PPL Electric Utilities on social media!

Call 811 before you dig

Know what’s below:
Call 811 before you dig

August 11 is National 811 Day, so for the month of August we’re reminding everyone to “know what’s below” before you start any digging project.

Before you start a project that requires digging — like planting a tree or installing a fence or pool — call 811. PPL and other utilities will come out to mark off any underground lines before your work begins.

Why is this important? Because if someone unintentionally hits an underground power line, it could injure them severely, or even kill them. Even if no one is hurt, damaging a line could cause service outages that could impact your neighbors and there could be significant costs you’ll need to pay to fix the damage.

In Pennsylvania, you need to call 811 at least three business days before you start your project.

PPL crew compete for a cause at the NSUJL Lineman Rodeo

Keeping the lights on for everyone — in the heat and the cold, when it’s raining or snowing, or even on a bright blue day — is no easy task.

Working in the field requires agility, strength and focus, and a commitment to safety above all else.

Earlier this summer, 10 PPL lineworkers put their skills to the test in the 9th annual Lineman Rodeo, organized by the National Sisterhood United for Journeyman Linemen (NSUJL), in Hazleton, Luzerne County. The two-day event raised money for the families of fallen and injured IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) lineworkers and other electric utility employees.

The PPL crew participated in several events that test their skills against colleagues from other utilities, including Speed Climb, Hurtman Rescue, and others. Our linemen and their teams placed in six of the events. Congratulations to all the competitors!
