PPL Electric UtilitiesA necessary upgrade for reliability
We’re planning to rebuild approximately 37 miles of 230 kV transmission line in Northumberland, Schuylkill and Snyder Counties to support anticipated load growth, including a large load customer. Doing so will also help to improve reliability, protect the grid from extreme weather and reduce the frequency and duration of outages.
Why the Project is Needed
The rebuilt transmission line and new switchyard will enable us to meet the existing and growing demand for power in the surrounding area. In addition, this project will provide greater reliability to local communities and the larger region.
Project Fast Facts
- Rebuild approximately 37 miles of existing 230 kV transmission line.
- Project will also construct a new switchyard.
- Complete all work within an existing PPL Electric transmission corridor that will be expanded.
