What We're Doing
Our Commitment to Electric Vehicles
We’re always focused on providing safe, reliable, affordable power while accommodating all of our customers’ needs, including the use of electric vehicles. That’s why we’re ready to meet the increased demand from electric vehicles as more enter the market. We have made many upgrades and improvements each year to improve reliability and we believe we have one of the most, if not the most advanced transmission and distribution systems in the country.
We work with customers and the companies that install those charging stations to provide the electric service needed.
We conducted a three-year research project with General Motors and the Electric Power Research Institute to ensure our system will be able to handle the expected influx of hybrid and electric vehicles.
PPL has adopted a goal to reduce CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions across its business operations to net zero by 2050. We have set interim targets of 70% reduction from 2010 levels by 2035 and an 80% reduction by 2040.
Electrifying Our Fleet
We believe electric vehicles are a viable, cost-effective, environmentally conscious means of transportation. That’s why we add electric vehicles to our fleet, offer EV charging stations for our employees at our facilities, and install battery-operated bucket lifts on our trucks.
We have more than five dozen electric, hybrid, or plug-in hybrids being used by our employees. We have set a goal to transition 100% of our light-duty vehicles to electric or hybrid electric models by 2030.
